It was, at the time anyway, one of the biggest rivalries in mixed martial arts.

Now, some 15 years after they clashed in the Octagon, former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Rashad Evans are set to rematch in boxing at a date to be confirmed this year, according to promotional material released on Monday. The event will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico according to ICS Mania; the ‘Influencer Crossover Series’ promotion.

Jackson and Evans fought under mixed martial arts rules in late May 2010 after both men had competed as opposing coaches on a series of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. Evans won that fight by unanimous decision.

Jackson, meanwhile, had been in loose talks for a heavyweight boxing match with Shannon Briggs, though this appears to have fallen by the wayside temporarily at least.

‘Rampage’ last fought professional in December 2019 in an MMA loss to fellow PRIDE legend Fedor Emelianenko. Evans returned to the cage in 2022 after a four year hiatus where he scored a win over Gabriel Checco.
