Perhaps not since the heyday of Ronda Rousey has their been as efficient a submission artist in the female weight categories in the UFC as Mackenzie Dern.

The ADCC and black belt no gi world champion boasts seven career submissions in her 14 wins (even if she has not scored one since 2021 in the Octagon) but will look to get back into the win (and sub) column this weekend in the UFC Apex in the organisation’s first event of the new year when she takes on the always dangerous Amanda Ribas in Las Vegas.

Dern was last seen in the UFC cage this past August where she arrested a two-fight losing skid with a decision win over the Mexican fighter Loopy Godinez.
